Epsom

Epsom is a town nestled between the rolling hills of the North Downs and the bustling suburbs of greater London. The district of Epsom and Ewell has a population of around 80,000. Historically Epsom has been best known for its salts and the healing properties that they contain. In the mid to late 1600’s many gentry would travel to Epsom from London with the hope they might experience some refreshing relief from the pollution and grime of central London. Today Epsom is probably mostly know for the Epsom Derby where each year we would have a royal visit from the Queen herself. Epsom now has a university, the University of the Creative Arts and is a superb location for links to London, M25, Gatwick, Heathrow and a stones throw to the beautiful Surrey countryside.

Gateway Church Epsom

Background
Gateway Church started as a stirring, a wonder and prayer in 2018. By January 2020 we felt ready to launch a Sunday morning once a fortnight and by March the whole country was in lockdown. We experienced blessing and growth during this very difficult season and in September 2021 we were able to start meeting in a local school. The church is very diverse, from age, to nationality, to social background. All are welcome as we emphasise our value of friendship both with God and with each other and those in our local area. God has called us to be a people who are hungry for His presence and to grow disciples in community together as we are passionate to see others come into a friendship with God through Jesus. If you would like to visit or hear more about what God has called us to then please do get in touch via the details below.

Airedale

The Aire Valley, named after the river Aire which flows through it, begins up in the Yorkshire Dales and flows down through a series of towns and villages before reaching Leeds. This area is famous for its rich heritage in industry, literature and agriculture as well as the outstanding natural beauty of the Yorkshire Dales. City Valley Airedale is located in a village about half way along the Aire Valley, between the contrasting towns of Skipton and Keighley.

Site Plant
The Airedale site was planted out from City Valley Church (Shipley) in autumn 2019 with around 24 people. After 18 months of online meetings due to lockdown, the site re-emerged into a new rhythm of Sunday gatherings and a heart for reaching out into the local community, which is reflected in our vision statement: 'A relational people, moved by the Spirit to reach the villages of the Aire Valley with the hope and salvation of Jesus'.

We gather for 3 Sundays a month at a local primary school, with the 4th Sunday each month being focussed on getting out into our local communities to build relationships and share the good news of Jesus in a variety of ways. The site is now about double the size it was at the beginning, and we have a variety of ages and nationalities represented within our gatherings. We regularly share food together on a Sunday, and meet in a variety of ways outside of a Sunday morning to build relationships, pray and learn together.

If you're interested to find out more or are keen to visit please get in touch! We would love to hear from you.

Salford

Salford is a university city in Greater Manchester, England, with a population of around 270,000. The city is situated on the western bank of the River Irwell which forms its boundary with Manchester and its city centre.

The economy of the city was focused on a major cotton and silk spinning and weaving factory district in the 18th and 19th centuries and an important inland port on the Manchester Ship Canal from 1894. Industrial decline in the 20th century led to the city becoming run-down, but major regeneration projects have begun to revive its fortunes.

Multiple media sector headquarters relocated to the Salford Quays development called MediaCityUK, including BBC North and ITV Granada. Other notable establishments and companies in the city include the University of Salford, the Lowry Centre, War Museum North, Salford cathedral, Salford City Football Club, and Salford Red Devils (Rugby League).

Background
This church plant is in its infancy, meeting in homes to eat and pray together during the week whilst also reaching out into local communities.
